Systems thinking.

I like complex problems. Years of studying architecture taught me to think systematically – with a holistic mindset that takes into account the interrelations between different parts, and focus on how the systems work over time and how they fit into the context of larger frameworks.

Visualising complexity.

Seeing the situation from a systematic perspective makes the complex problem actionable. This is incredibly helpful when working with complex social issues - like the problem of knife crime I worked on during my internship at Huge. Due to systematic approach I was able to communicate the complexity of the problem to stakeholders in a simple way.

Information Architecture.

Having experience designing physical navigation systems have directly influenced my perspective on information architecture for websites and applications. For my first task during my internship at Skygate, I tagged the possible content types gathered from stakeholders interviews and heuristic evaluation with priority levels and arranged them in several types of thematic clusters. When trying out different sections possibilities and arrangements of content levels, I imagined navigating through the system from different users perspectives, very much like walking through a building with a certain purpose.

Problem solving.

Finally, systems thinking helped me to develop problem solving skills that can be applied in variety of industries - and I like to challenge myself with unfamiliar contexts. Upon entering a FIMECC Innovation Camp competition my team picked a real-life case study from TANA, a company producing shredders and waste compactors. Our ideas for solving the problem of motivating operators, increasing transparency of the site and utilising available data won 1st place in the category.
